We're EXTENDING our campaign. 

With your help we have made wonderful progress towards our goal in this campaign. THANK YOU! But we have not yet hit our necessary goals for the upcoming hiking season, so we are extending our campaign.  Thank you everyone for your help in donating, sharing, hosting a peer-to-peer page, AND your patience!!!! :) 

WHY WE'RE RAISING MONEY

YOUTH: We are bursting at the seems! WYLD hopes to increase our hiking trips from one a month to at least three a month, and hopefully every week! Plus, we would like to purchase a van to make the program a little more nimble than just renting. This will also help us with summer trips and allow us to increase hikes, as well as camping and backpacking excursions when kids are most in need of recreational, social, and learning activities during regular week days when school is out. Impossible with van rental expenses. There are few, if any, summer camps available. 

DIVERSITY! Our sister schools program pairs schools of different socioeconomic backgrounds on service learning projects in nature to mitigate segregation in Los Angeles. We have two clubs from different schools in different districts, coming together to work on a gardening service learning project. 

The Farm to  Forest Garden Program has become such a success with kids and the schools that we need a full time master gardener with teaching experience to increase classes from twice a week to at least four times a week.  

BACKCOUNTRY: More youth are hoping to experience backcountry excursions and so we're hoping to do at least one more High Sierra Trip this summer.
